Building Blocks for Healthy Youth

The 40 developmental building blocks are so vital to or lives! The more I learn about them the more I build in my life and my kids! Adults and kids alike, benift from these simple tools.

I would love for anyone out there to take a minute or so to answer these questions for me! Thank you so much!

1.) As a youth, do you feel you can make a difference in your hometown?
2.) Do you feel safe:
At School?
At Home?
In your neighborhood?
3.) Do you help others?
4.) Are youth treated like an important part of yur hometown?
5.) Is there something you would change about your hometown?
If so, what would you change?

Thanks,
Ann Paris

1- To an extent, like I could volunteer and try and help people, but a lot of things involve and need to involve adults and money, which as a teenager is scarce.
2- mostly, but there are a lot of people that could make stupid decisions in an instant.
yes, i have my family with me and its not like someone could sneak in unnoticed.
sometimes, if i had someone with me i would feel safe, but alone i would be more worried about what could happen.
3-Yes. I enjoy it and especially if someone asks i would help as much as i could.
4-Not really, I feel like youth are given a bad reputation, and people feel we cant do anything but damage. Some people understand what youth can do and embrace it, but for the most part we are overlooked.
5-Yes, I would love some activities to do in Bolivar. There is only so many times you can go bowling, and only so many movies you can see.

home-very, I know that my family is there with me and even when they aren't I know I'm safe there
nieghborhood- not sure, we have a lot of older folk in our neighborhood so I guess so.

    Home- yes.
    Neighborhood- Yes.
    3) I try to help others as much as possible. After we had that tornado the other friday I picked up my neighbors yard because she is an elderly lady.
    4) No, most kids are treated like crap. Especially the skaters. they're always being blamed for the bad things that happen and always being accused of doing drugs, but most of the time its the kids you'd never guess that actually did it.
    5) I dont think there would be anything i could change besides more entertainment maybe?

  14. Brantley says:

    1. I actually do. I think that there are quite a few opportunities, you just have to be willing to take part in them.

    2. Yes to all of these.

3.Yes, I try to help others as often as I can, but, sadly, I usually only help when I feel like helping. I'm selfish, I know.

    4. I'm not really sure…

    5. I really wish that there were more opportunities for all types of activities. As a tennis player, I would specifically want an indoor tennis complex, but I won't hold my breath. I really just wish that there was more to do in Bolivar. All we have is a movie theater, bowling alley (that reeks of smoke), and, oh yeah, Wal-Mart. This combination makes for a boring weekend of nothing to do. And if anyone knows of anything else to do in Bolivar, please let me know.
