Art In Public Places Program

Art Sync Gallery has started a new program in Bolivar called ? Art In Public Places?. The banks of Bolivar will be displaying artwork from the gallery. These banks include the Bank of Bolivar, State Farm Bank and the Mid-Missouri Bank.

Summer classes are continuing at the gallery. If you are interested please contact the gallery where we have sheets listing the various classes.

The next show at Art Sync will be ?Back Yard Beauty? which will include flowers and nature subjects. This show is open to the public to enter and it will open Friday, August 19^th. Artwork must be delivered by noon on the 19^th or before.

Open hours are Wednesday through Saturday from10am to 6pm. Art Sync is located at 880 San Martin, Vineyard Square in Bolivar, MO.

What is Love and Logic?

Love and Logic^® is a parenting system founded by Jim Fay and Foster Cline, M.D. It provides simple and practical techniques to help parents with kids of all ages:

• Raise responsible kids
• Have more fun
• Easily and immediately (first use) change their children’s behavior

Who is leading?

Peggy Schroeder, LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), will lead the classes. Peggy earned her BA in Elementary Education and MA in Guidance and Counseling. She taught at Bolivar Primary School for 18 years and completed a 3 day training to facilitate Love and Logic classes. Daniel Meadows, Licensed Psychologist, will co-facilitate the sessions with Peggy. Daniel earned an MA in Marriage and Family Counseling and a doctorate in clinical psychology. Daniel works with families in private practice at the Family Institute of the Ozarks in Bolivar.

When will this occur?

The classes will meet on six consecutive Thursday nights from 6:30 p.m. though 8:00 p.m. The dates of the sessions will be September 15, 22, 29 and October 6, 13, 20.

How much will it cost?

The recommended donation is $60 for all six sessions with the understanding that funding should not determine attendance. Free or reduced rates are available. This class is not intended to generate income, but is a way for the Bolivar United Methodist Church to help families in our community. The donation will help fund the cost of the classes. Childcare with snacks will be provided.

How should I enroll?

Call Anita at the Bolivar United Methodist Church office at (417) 326-4885. Three things will then occur. First, we will ask for your name, phone number, email address, mailing address, referral source, and childcare needs. Second, written information about the class will be emailed or mailed. Third, a reminder call will occur shortly before the first class is scheduled.

The burn ban which has been in effect for the City of Bolivar has been
lifted. Normal rules for burning items in the City of Bolivar remain in
effect, including the new restriction on burning household trash.

A burn ban for the City of Bolivar is being put in place effective
immediately. This is due to extremely dry conditions and dew points
falling into the 40′s during the daytime. This ban will remain in place
until rainfall relieves the extremely dry conditions in Bolivar.

Job Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

-Advertiser/Client Research, creating proposals and media kits, selling station advertising, customer service, collections, writing commercial copy for your clients, creating spec spots/ideas for prospective clients and possibly producing your commercials/specs.

-Promotions – participating in remotes as needed, includes making appearances and hosting special events for Company and/or Company advertisers.

-Be available to work some weekends and evenings for sales, promotional and/or public service events

Additional Job Requirements:

-Neat appearance and work with the public.

-Ability to work in a small office team environment and be able to take  directions.
